Every Friday during Lent we will pray the Stations of the Cross at 6pm walking through the streets of various neighborhoods in La Villa. This week our starting point will be at the home of Maria Ramirez, 805 S. Mike Chapa Ave. Please join as we pray and reflect on Jesus' passion and death.

La Villa Knights of Columbus Fish Fry

The La Villa Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a Fish Fry every Friday during the Season of Lent from 11am—1:30pm at OLG Church courtyard. The cost of the plate is $10.00. It includes 2 pieces of fried fish, fries, coleslaw, rice, capirotada and corn tortillas.

Rice Bowl—Lenten Almsgiving

At this very moment, millions of our most vulnerable sisters and brothers are facing life threatening levels of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition. At the root of this crisis is a perfect storm of poverty, climate change, conflict and inequality. There is no one solution to breaking the cycle of hunger for every community around the world—but we can do our part through CRS Rice Bowl by answering Jesus' invitation us to share bread for life with our sisters and brothers during Lent—so all may live with dignity.

En este mismo momento, millones de nuestros hermanos y hermanas más vulnerables se enfrentan a niveles de hambre, inseguridad alimentaria y desnutrición que amenazan sus vidas. En la raíz de esta crisis hay una tormenta perfecta de pobreza, cambio climático, conflicto y desigualdad. No existe una única solución para romper el ciclo del hambre en todas las comunidades del mundo, pero podemos hacer nuestra parte a través de Plato de Arroz de CRS respondiendo a la invitación de Jesús de compartir el pan de vida con nuestros hermanos y hermanas durante la Cuaresma, para que todos puedan vivir con dignidad.

Blessed PalmBranches Needed

Please be so kind to bring the blessed palm branches that you received on Palm Sunday last year to the parish office so that we can burn them to make ashes for Ash Wednesday.

Ireland Pilgrimage Planning Meeting

Honda HR-V 2025 Car Raffle

Our parish communities of St. Theresa and Our Lady of Guadalupe, along with four other churches, are excited to announce our participation in a Multi-Parish Car Raffle. We will be raffling a 2025 Honda HR-V. The drawing will take place on Sunday, April 27th, at 1:30 PM in Edcouch. Each family in Edcouch and La Villa will receive 30 tickets to sell. The cost per ticket is $5.00. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our benefactors, Carlos Garza and Clark Knapp Honda, for donating the car. Additionally, we are grateful to Clark Knapp Honda for covering half of the cost of printing the tickets, and to Dr. Joel Martinez for covering the other half. We appreciate all their generous contributions!

Annual Pro-Life Conference 2025

This year's theme is "Defending Life When Life is Threatened, At Every Stage, Before and After Birth." The conference will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School Gym in McAllen, TX from 8:30am - 1pm. The sacredness of all human life will be our focus, with a special emphasis on End of Life issues and advocating for the medically vulnerable. Attendees will also enjoy live music from the talented JesTus Brothers, explore an array of vendor and informational booths, and partake in light refreshments.

Welcome to Our Newly Baptized Infants!

We are overjoyed to welcome the newest members of our parish community who have been baptized into the faith. Let us extend our heartfelt congratulations to these precious infants and their families:

June Jannett Aguiñaga, Jericho Alexander Aleman, Jediah Aaron Aleman, Anaiya Marie Amador, Ernesto Ortega, Gael Nicolas Pavon, Alijah Brian Rodriguez, Jesus Mauricio Silva and Anya Ruby Torres.

As these children begin their journey of faith, we also recognize the important role of their parents and godparents. We pray that the Holy Spirit may grant them the grace and strength to be loving and faithful witnesses to these children during their formative years. May they guide and nurture these young souls in the ways of faith, helping them grow in love and knowledge of our Lord. Let us keep these families in our prayers and offer them our support as they embark on this beautiful journey.

Teaching Safety - Empowering God's Children

The job of ensuring children's safety is a challenging undertaking. The prevention of child sexual abuse requires more than adult awareness, education, and training about the nature and scope of the problem. We must also give our children the tools they need to overcome the advances of someone who intends to do them harm. The Teaching Safety program guide is a tool designed to assist parents and teachers in this important task. The Teaching Safety program is a vehicle through which parents, teachers, catechists, and youth ministers give children and young people the tools they need to protect themselves from those who might harm them.

Enseñar Seguridad: Empoderar a los Niños de Dios

El trabajo de garantizar la seguridad de los niños es una tarea desafiante. La prevención del abuso sexual infantil requiere más que la concienciación, la educación y la capacitación de los adultos sobre la naturaleza y el alcance del problema. También debemos darles a nuestros niños las herramientas que necesitan para superar los avances de alguien que pretende hacerles daño. La guía del programa Enseñar seguridad es una herramienta diseñada para ayudar a los padres y maestros en esta importante tarea. El programa Enseñar seguridad se ofrecerá a los estudiantes de los grados 6 a 12 la próxima semana.

Young Adult Gathering

All young adults 18 to 30 are invited to join our young adult ministry. We meet on the first and third Sunday's of the month from 5pm—7pm at the parish hall in Edcouch. Our Next meeting is on Sunday, July 7th. Join us for an evening of fun and faith sharing.

Todos los jóvenes adultos de 18 a 30 años están invitados a unirse a nuestro ministerio de jóvenes adultos. Nos reunimos el primer y tercer domingo del mes de 5pm a 7pm en el salón parroquial de Edcouch. Nuestra próxima reunión es el domingo, 7 de julio. Únase a nosotros para una noche de diversión e intercambio de fe.
